Every swirl mark on your paint started somewhere — and more often than not, it started in the wash bucket. When you dip a dirty mitt back into your wash water, you're picking up the grit and dirt you just removed and dragging it right back across your paint. The Grit Guard Wash Board eliminates that problem entirely.
Placed at the bottom of your wash bucket, the Grit Guard Wash Board gives you a ribbed surface to rub your wash mitt against between panels, dislodging trapped dirt and grit before it can be reintroduced to the paint. The guard then keeps that contamination settled at the bottom of the bucket, away from your clean wash water above. It's a simple tool that makes a real difference in wash safety — especially for anyone who cares about keeping their paint swirl-free.
How It Works
- Ribbed scrubbing surface — rub your wash mitt across the board between panels to release trapped dirt and grit
- Keeps contamination at the bottom — the guard separates dirty water at the bottom from clean water above, preventing cross-contamination
- Fits standard 3.5–5 gallon buckets — compatible with most detailing buckets
- Reduces swirl marks and wash scratches — one of the most effective and affordable ways to protect your paint during every wash
How to Use
- Place the Grit Guard Wash Board at the bottom of your wash bucket before adding water and soap
- Fill the bucket with your preferred car wash soap and water
- After washing each panel, rub the wash mitt firmly across the ribbed surface of the Grit Guard to release trapped dirt
- Allow the dirt to settle below the guard before re-loading the mitt with clean soapy water
- Repeat for every panel throughout the wash
Pro tip: Use the Grit Guard with a two-bucket wash method — one bucket for soapy wash water with a Grit Guard, one bucket of plain rinse water with a second Grit Guard. This is the gold standard for a scratch-safe hand wash.
