Not every scratch needs a machine polisher and a full correction job. Light scratches, scuffs, and surface marks in the clear coat can often be removed quickly and easily by hand with the right product — and Jax Wax Scratch Remover is exactly that product. This targeted scratch remover uses fine abrasives to level the clear coat around the scratch, blending it seamlessly into the surrounding paint and restoring a smooth, uniform finish without the need for professional equipment.

At Chicago Jax Wax, we recommend Scratch Remover as the first step whenever a customer notices a light scratch or scuff. Before committing to a full machine polish, try Scratch Remover by hand — it handles the majority of everyday clear coat scratches from car washes, keys, shopping carts, and light contact, and it takes less than five minutes to apply.

What It Removes

  • Light clear coat scratches — surface-level scratches that haven't penetrated through the clear coat to the base coat
  • Swirl marks & buffer trails — fine circular scratches from improper washing or machine polishing
  • Scuffs & rub marks — light contact marks from parking lot encounters, shopping carts, and similar sources
  • Water spot etching — light surface etching from mineral deposits left by water spots

How to Use

  1. Clean and dry the affected area before applying
  2. Apply a small amount of Scratch Remover to a foam applicator pad or clean microfiber towel
  3. Work into the scratch using firm, overlapping circular motions
  4. Continue until the scratch is no longer visible or has been significantly reduced
  5. Wipe away residue with a clean microfiber towel
  6. Follow with a wax or sealant to protect the corrected area

Pro tip: If the scratch is still visible after applying Scratch Remover, run your fingernail across it. If your nail catches in the scratch, it has penetrated through the clear coat and will require professional paint correction or touch-up paint to fully repair.
