The Jax Wax Professional Clay Bar Medium is the clay bar we recommend for most vehicles — the sweet spot between cutting power and paint safety. If your car has been sitting outside, hasn't been clayed in a year or more, or feels rough after washing, this is the bar that will restore that glass-smooth surface that makes wax and coatings bond properly and last longer.
At 200 grams, this is a professional-size bar that gives you plenty of material to work with across the entire vehicle. It pulls out tar, bugs, water spots, tree sap, and industrial fallout that regular washing leaves behind — the kind of contamination you can feel but can't see. Once you clay, you'll wonder how you ever detailed without it.
What It Removes
- Tar and road grime — embedded deposits that washing alone can't lift
- Tree sap and bug residue — organic contaminants that bond to clear coat
- Water spots and mineral deposits — left behind by hard water and rain
- Industrial fallout and rail dust — metallic particles that embed in paint over time
Why Choose Medium Grade
- Safe for most paint conditions — effective enough for regular contamination without being overly aggressive on clear coat
- Works on paint, glass, plastic & metal — one bar for the whole vehicle
- 200 gram professional size — enough for multiple full vehicle treatments
- Improves paint clarity and smoothness — prepares the surface for polishing, waxing, or ceramic coating
How to Use
- Break the bar in half and knead it in your hands until soft and pliable
- Flatten the clay into a disc shape
- Lubricate the surface generously with Jax Wax Body Shine or detail spray
- Glide the clay over the surface with light, sweeping motions — never press hard
- Wipe the area with a clean microfiber towel
- Fold the clay to a clean surface and repeat on the next section
Pro tip: If you drop the clay bar on the ground, discard that piece — it picks up grit that can scratch your paint. That's why we recommend the Clay Mitt as a backup option.
